# Terms of use

> These terms govern use of ShipOrDie.lol. Staking money is optional. Missing a deadline is not.

## The product

ShipOrDie is a public accountability board. You pay a stake through Stripe Checkout, name a ship date, and the commitment goes public after payment clears and a short cool-off. If accepted proof lands on time, most of the stake is returned minus a platform fee. If you miss, the full stake funds that week's uncontested on-time shippers.

## Stakes and refunds

Stakes are USD, cards only, paid in full. Nothing is public until Stripe confirms payment. Proof must be a live public https product URL. High stakes and placeholder matches go to human review. Small stakes queue a remainder refund after a contest window. Three community reports can hold a refund and a prize-pool share until an admin reviews. Admin removal does not automatically refund unless an admin chooses to.

## Prize pool

Failed stakes from the previous UTC week are split every Monday. Shares are recorded on the ledger immediately. Transfers to you only happen if you have a Stripe Connect recipient account that can receive transfers. Connect Stripe on Payouts. We are not a bank, broker, or gambling operator. Prize shares are promotional distributions funded by missed stakes, not wagers against other makers.

## Dares

A dare is a shareable invite to stake. The invited maker pays their own stake through Stripe Checkout. The person who sent the dare does not receive that stake if the invited maker misses. Dares are not wagers.

## Watching

Signed-in users may watch a public stake to receive outcome email. Watching is not a stake and not a prize-pool entry. You cannot watch your own commitment.

## Board inserts

Paid notices are labeled advertising. They are not stakes. We can take a notice down for spam, fraud, or policy violations. Fees for completed live inserts are generally not refunded.

## Acceptable use

No fake ships, parked pages, adult content, malware, or recycled URLs. We may remove commitments, hold refunds, and ban accounts. The board is the record; emails and tweets are notices.

## Limitation

The service is provided as-is. Stripe processes payments. To the extent allowed by law, ShipOrDie is not liable for missed refunds caused by Stripe outages, Connect onboarding gaps, or proof that does not meet the rules. US law, excluding conflict-of-law rules.
